lexington. wkyt broke the news yesterday that the newest financier for the centrepointe project is now backing out. so... what does
that mean for the big hole... sitting in the heart of downtown? wkyt's mark barber went searching for answers. he's live with
what he's learned. we are finding the answers this morning with the city's vice mayor...steve kay. he thinks the city's agreement with centre pointe still stands and that
means if there isn't any work happening on the construction site for 60 days, the property owner will have to fill in this large hole that is the size of a city block.vo the massive mixed-
use project that has taken on many different forms over the last eights years, faced yet another setback last night when mayor jim gray id the city would t build their new
city hall there. he said it was too expensive for taxpayers, pointing to the fact that rent at centre pointe would cost twice as much as other options. he also said
developers weren't willing to negotiate boundaries that the city needed. once the city pulled out of the project, centre pointe's new investors pulled out too, leading many to
ask, what's next? steve kay / vice mayor: "everybody would like to see something happen there. that's a very important part of the community. but what we want to see
there needs to be the right thing." gray says the city will keep working to find the right answer for the centre pointe development but at this time, it's unclear whether anything will
be built here. live in lexington, mb wkyt. buisness owners near the centrepointe site... say this latest setback is frustrating. many say the

for the project... business owners say they just want to see it become something. "as a taxpayer i'm sure as many people in lexington are i'm
upset about it and you know i'm sure the wasteful the waste all around it's waster all the way around." "i mean look at it it's the perfect spot for business its' the heart of the city, you
couldn't look for any more." while he says the latest setback didn't come a surprise... kiely says he still has hope the city can get the project
done. new this morning... a man was taken to the hospital after an crash in a car went down and embankment and then hit a
